Clemens provided fitout services for this 2,000 sf ABSL-3 high-containment laboratory space for pathogen and toxin research to support infectious disease research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Due to the sensitive nature of work occurring in this occupied facility, Clemens proceeded with special care to minimize noise and vibration disruptions and instituted temporary ICRA protections during construction.

The scope included MEP upgrades, epoxy flooring, re-installation of bio-safety cabinets, new digital pressure monitors, and equipment commissioning. The lab space was sealed to be water and airtight to 100psi. New BAS/BMS systems were integrated into existing systems. Clemens installed new Phoenix valves to provide variable air volume (VAV) and constant volume for directional airflow, climate control and overall ventilation balance for the use of eliminating infectious disease pathogens.
