Located on Rittenhouse Square and widely considered the #1 hotel in Philadelphia since its opening in 1989, The Rittenhouse Hotel selected Clemens to renovate its guest rooms and corridors. This project was the final phase of an intensive renovation plan started by Hersha Hospitality Trust when it purchased the property in 2012. The 72,000 square foot project transformed 98 guest rooms spread over five floors, as well as The Presidential Suite (priced at $4,000+ per night). The project scope also included the complete gutt and refresh of the guest bathrooms, each containing a shower and tub, and new floor and wall finishes in each guest room.
Due to an aggressive schedule, the project was split into a multi-phase model; each of the five floors had to be treated as a separate phase since a waterfall effect was not possible in the time allotted. The work happened simultaneously on two floors at a time and climbed up in one-floor increments as work progressed. Clemens was very sensitive to the proximity of guests on adjacent floors as well as the condominium owners inhabiting the 179 condos in the floors atop the hotel, completing all noisy work before 10am.
