Clemens provided construction management services for the addition and renovation of Nelson Playground for the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority as part of the City’s Rebuild initiative.
The existing 2,000 sf single-story recreation center building is located on the north edge of the 0.7-acre site. Clemens renovated the interior and exterior of the building to improve and enlarge the existing space, address ongoing deterioration, and provide code, security and accessibility improvements. A small addition contains an office space, storage room and interior courtyard.
The existing canopy was repaired, the fascia will be refinished with stainless steel. The canopy was marked with the recreation center’s name to provide a clear demarcation of the building entrance. The Mural Arts program repainted the mural covering the recreation center, after construction is complete.
