Clemens Construction is leading a comprehensive 70,000 SF renovation within the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center and Biomed Facility at 7th & Spring Garden Streets—one of the largest Red Cross facilities in the nation. The building is home to the organization’s only National Molecular Laboratory and an Immunohematology Reference Laboratory, making uninterrupted operations critical throughout the renovation.
The project’s complexity stems from the need to complete major infrastructure and interior upgrades within a fully active, 24/7 facility. Clemens implemented a carefully phased construction strategy to relocate the donation center and sequentially build new training and conference rooms, administrative and office spaces, restrooms, breakrooms, and other shared-use areas—without disrupting ongoing life-saving work.
Infrastructure upgrades include new air handling units, building automation systems (BAS), air distribution and humidification systems, as well as modernized electrical distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and integrated audio-visual systems. The work enhances both the performance and functionality of this mission-critical environment.
